- Level 1 Award designed for anyone who works on licensed retail premises who is, or likely to be, involved in the sale of alcohol:
Bar staff and waiters or waitresses in outlets such as pubs, hotels, entertainment venues, leisure parks, bars, restaurants, sports and social clubs, nightclubs and casinos.
- The qualification covers:
- The nature of alcohol and the effect it has on the human body
- Licensing law in relation to the protection of children from harm
- The social responsibilities relating to the retail sale of alcohol
- How to recognise drunkenness, and an individual’s duty not to serve drunk customers
- Appropriate strategies that can be adopted to prevent or eliminate alcohol-related crime and conflict; and the importance of personal safety
